Newhaven Harbour train station/s and Newhaven ferry terminal is approx 2 miles by car or a 20 minute walk through the harbourside and across the bridge. Newhaven Fort and beaches are also situated about 15 minute walk away (3 minutes by car with free, out of season, parking). The local park and harbour walk is a 5 minute walk away. There are cliff-tops walks within 10 minutes of the front door towards Peacehaven, Rottingdean and Brighton. Brighton Marina, the Palace Pier and Brighton racecourse are 8.5, and 10 miles to the west by car (approx 20 minutes). The Newhaven to Dieppe ferry takes approx 4hrs 15mins. There are 2 supermarkets within 2 miles, Sainsburys (Sommerfield is only 1 mile away, all the local supermarkets do home deliveries, including Asda at Brighton Marina and Tesco at Lewes) and various other high street shops (Woolworths, etc, all within a 15 minute walk or 5 minutes by car). There is also a small business park where you can find a several outlets, such as, B&Q, Halfords and Carpet Right, again these are all within 2 miles or 5 minutes by car. The area called Tidemills (please do a google search for Tidemills!), is situated about halfway between Newhaven and Seaford (3 miles, 6-8 minutes by car), with easy access to free parking and is an excellent place to walk pets. Seaford and east Newhaven beaches can be accessed from Tidemills car park.
Schools: The local schools are a 5 (high school) and 10 (junior school) minute walk away. There are also several pre-school groups operating in the area, some within walking distance.

How to get there: Enter Newhaven onto the one-way system. As you go past the swing bridge (or over the bridge onto one way system), take the 2nd on your left, at the police station (this is opposite Somerfield Supermarket which is on your right at this point). About half a mile along this road (South Road/Fort Road you will see a park on your right and some small shops and cafe on your left. This park is at the bottom of Court Farm Road. Our house is approx half a mile up on the right hand side.
